Fearmongering

A frightened populace is an easy to manipulate populace.

"I am so afraid. Please, please make me safe. You can have my rights. I'm not using them anyway."

Ooooooo... more terrorists. Who is it this time? The Chinese? The Lebonese? The Sudanese? The Japanese? The Serbians? The Mexicans? Yosemite Sam? Doctor No? They are different, therefore I fear them.

"Please protect me from the bad men."

Who benefits from our terror? This is the question we all must be asking. The people who are being accused of terrorism do not seem to be benefitting from their actions.

Who gets the power? Who gets the money?

So they put everyone through the security dog and pony show at the airport. I do not feel safer.

I feel oppressed.

Ancient Wisdom

Those who advise good leaders
Tell them not to rely on military might
to conquer their enemies.
Acts of war lead to acts of revenge.
Where armies have marched
the soil is barren
and briars clog the land.
Hunger and poverty ensue.

Lao Tzu
